Our main goal is provide a standard of excellence in the arts. The staff at A Time for Dance are all highly trained and offer strong technique classes while retaining the warm and individualized atmosphere. Together we are committed to the philosophy that the art of dance belongs to all of us. We take pride in providing a quality dance education for ages 2- adult in a safe and nurturing environment. We aim to instill in each student a passion and love for the arts that will last a lifetime.
About Sheila Meyer
Sheila Meyer executive director and founder of A Time for Dance. The foundation for her lifelong love for dance began at age 5. She studied under many of Atlanta's finest dance professionals. After receiving a bachelors in psychology, Sheila took her dream and made it a reality by starting her own dance studio in Georgia in 2000. Moving to LA she made it her mission to start spreading her love for dance with the community in 2004. In 2010, she founded a non profit Yachad Dance west, an opportunity to give back to the community - doing outreach through dance. She even performed in the two ballets "the Spirit of Shabbos" and "Crown of Creation". Sheila truly enjoys working with her amazing staff and cherishes the relationships with her students and their families. She derives tremendous nachas from watching her students grow year after year.
Hadassah, a second generation dancer, was formally trained, and performed at the Royal Academy of Dance Theatre Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, New York Theatre Ballet, Central Dance Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance among others. Hadassah performed before former President Clinton and has had her choreography aired on PBS. Her piece “Stairway” was honored at the Lincoln Center . She has attended The Language of Dance Center and is certified in Levels I ,II and currently working on Level III, “Creative Process in a Pedagogical Framework”. Hadassah directs Yachad Dance Ensemble, ATFD’s professional ballet company and has choreographed 3 inspiring ballet performances in the last few years.
anessa Graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelors of Arts in Dance and Teaching. Teaching has been a huge part her life for about 20 years. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She is in: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Modern, Acrobatics, Aerobics, Samba and Salsa. She has been teaching at” A Time for Dance” for 9 years. She loves her students very much and is very proud of their growth.has danced with several reputable artists and currently dances in live shows, tours and in T.V and films.
Her T.V and film dance credits include ,“ The Wonder Girls”, “Spanglish”, The Latin Grammy’s with Calle 13,That’s So Raven, Ritmo Latino Awards and been featured in several commercials dancing such as: Cingular/AT&T Walmart, Payless, LG, and T-Mobile.
Karen is an actor, improviser and playwright. A high school apprenticeship with the Idaho Shakespeare festival sparked a passion for the theater , which brought her from Boise, Idaho all the way to Occidental College in LA. Karen studied all types of theater and went to study at the London Dramatic Academy, Improv Olympic Chicago, UCB, The Groundlings and Bang Comedy studio to develop skills as a character actor and director. Karen taught at Occidental children’s theater and partnered with them and UCLA to bring her curriculum to local high schools to teach underserved teens the positive influence of improve. She also teaches “Much ado about Shakespeare”. Karen also performs regularly at Disneyland and Universal Studios. In the last few year’s she has directed ATFD performances “Peter Pan”, “The Rose” and "Wizard of Oz".
Amy started dancing at the age of 4, and hasn’t stopped since! She attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory and earned her BFA in Dance. After college, she moved to New York City and trained at the Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham schools. Amy has performed for Disney, internationally with circus companies, and has many TV, film, and commercial credits. Most recently, she has been performing with world renowned magician's in illusion shows around the world, including at the Magic Castle. Teaching is a great way for her to share her knowledge and love for dance with the beautiful girls at A Time for Dance!
Joanna was born into the performing arts community, fell in love with performing as young girl, and has chosen to devote her life to the stage. Singing, dancing and drama has been Joanna’s life since she was 3 years old. She trained as a competitive dancer and singer throughout her childhood and continued her studies in college. In October 2013 she graduated from AMDA: College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre and Performing Arts and has been seen in many shows including Cabaret, Hairspray, The Wiz, Into the Woods, and Pippin. This year, she has choreographed for several theater productions in Southern California. Joanna continues to dance in numerous shows all over the country and sings with vocal groups all over the world.
Hayley Witzum is originally from London, England. She trained as a little girl at the Royal Academy of Ballet and did competitions for gymnastics at Hendon Youth. Hayley moved to Florida with her family when she was a teenager and joined U4ria dance crew as a Hip Hop dancer. Once Hayley left High school she immediately started to dance for event companies in South Florida, and also taught at Raww Dance Studio. Then further continued to fulfill her dream of dancing for The Miami Heat. Most recently, Hayley performed in Miami at the Premios Juvented concert with Pitbull and in Boston with Ne-Yo! Now Hayley lives in LA and enjoys working with the girls at A Time for Dance.
Natalie is oriiginally from Nova Scotia, Canada. Her specialty is Hip Hop. A few of her performance credits include 2013 Superbowl, 2014 Billboard music awards, 2015 New Year's Rockin Eve, the American Music Awards and Dancing with the Stars. Natalie has performed with several musicians including Beyonce, Usher and Fergie. Natalie enjoys sharing her love for dance with her students.
Reba originally from Seattle specializes in musical theater and voiceover work. She holds a BA from occidental college in Theater and Vocal Performance. Reba is best known for her work hosting the Disney Channel show Disney 365 and also performs in theater productions around Los Angeles. Recent credits include Princess Jasmine in Aladdin! A Musical Spectacular at Disney's California Adventure, Kiss Me Kate and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Cabrillo Music theater). As a voice actor she can be heard in The Winx feature films, The Jungle Bunch 2: The Great Treasure Quest, and Knights of Sidonia on Netflix. She also has her own company singing jazz and the Great American Songbook at private events.
Melissa is originally from Edmonton Alberta. While growing up she competed as a Rhythmic Gymnast in LA, she trained as a hip hop dancer and has many performing credits including Pharrel Williams video etc. She has also appeared on TV shows such as: "The Fab Life", Newlyweds on Bravo TV many more. Melissa has toured the US, Israel and Spain with LUMA Theater Co-Director, Choreographer and Principal Dancer.
